Water-based serum with alpha-arbutin (helps even the look of dark spots), niacinamide (supports tone and the skin barrier) and the classical Kumkumadi herbs. No retinol.

Why this combo
Pigmentation does not take a night shift. Sun is a major reason dark spots deepen and stay. The water-based serum layers under sunscreen in the morning and does the same job at night. Sunscreen still does most of the work; the serum goes with it.
Classical Kumkumadi, with modern support. Saffron, manjistha, sandalwood, licorice and vetiver carry the traditional Kumkumadi story. Alpha-arbutin and niacinamide add modern support for the look of dark spots and the skin barrier.
Retinol only in the cream, and only at night. The serum targets the look of dark spots and uneven tone. The cream's 0.25% retinol encourages skin renewal, which helps texture and supports tone over time. Retinol breaks down in sunlight and can make skin more sun-sensitive, so it goes on in the evening. The serum has no retinol, so it works in the morning too.

- Sunscreen every morning. Retinol and dark spots both call for it, and it is the single most important step for pigmentation.
- Melasma and deep hormonal pigmentation need a dermatologist. This duo can sit alongside that treatment but does not replace it.
- Patch test first. The serum contains essential oils and smells earthy and warm, from vetiver and saffron. The scent fades within a few minutes.
- Expect some adjustment with the cream. Mild redness or dryness can happen in the first weeks of any retinol.
